Our Approach to Risk-Free Fun on the Water
Your safety is our priority. At BoatSitterUS, we’ve designed our charter process to ensure every guest feels secure, supported, and confident on the water—no matter their experience level.
Here’s how we do it.
Professionally Certified Captains
All captains on our platform are licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard and carry commercial marine insurance. Their credentials include:
- CPR and First Aid training
- Advanced navigation and emergency readiness
- Local knowledge of tides, no-wake zones, and weather conditions
They’re also trained to communicate clearly, manage group dynamics, and ensure safe fun—especially with children or non-swimmers onboard.
Pre-Trip Safety Check and Briefing
Before every charter:
- The vessel is inspected for fuel levels, engine performance, and key systems
- Life jackets are checked and counted for all passengers
- Safety equipment is verified (fire extinguishers, horns, flares)
Upon boarding, your captain will give a quick safety talk covering:
- Location of life jackets and emergency exits
- How to move safely around the boat
- Communication plan in case of emergencies
This takes just a few minutes, but it ensures your entire group is prepared and comfortable.
Weather Monitoring and Contingency Plans
Our team and captains actively monitor weather conditions leading up to your trip. If we see any signs of wind, storms, or unsafe tides, we’ll contact you in advance to discuss rescheduling or issuing a credit—your safety comes first.
If bad weather arises during your charter, the captain will quickly adapt the route or head back to shore as needed.
Clean, Inspected, and Maintained Boats
Every vessel listed with BoatSitterUS must pass a thorough safety inspection before being approved. We also require regular maintenance logs from boat owners to ensure each boat is seaworthy and ready.
Your Role in a Safe Charter
We ask that all guests:
- Drink responsibly
- Listen to safety instructions
- Avoid reckless behavior or jumping from moving boats
- Inform the captain of any medical needs or non-swimmers in advance
When guests and captains work together, boat days are safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
